Jeff Davis started his broadcast career when he was only 4 years old. “I would watch Art Linkletter interview kids on his TV program, then I’d find a stick to use as a pretend microphone, and go outside to interview the blades of grass!”
During his “work study” class in high school, he worked at the McMinnville radio station as a news reporter. By age 19, he had become Oregon’s youngest radio program director. Jeff was on the air in McMinnville and Salem before coming to Portland in 1974 as the evening D.J. at 97.1 FM.
He moved to KWJJ AM/FM from 1975 to 1982, eventually becoming the operations director and morning show host. From 1982 to 1988 he was heard on KYXI & KGON, along with being the host of the 8 O’Clock movie on FOX 49 TV. Jeff was also “the voice guy” at KOIN-TV from 1988 to 1993, along with appearing on literally hundreds of radio and TV commercials locally and nationally.
When the job of Production Director at KPDQ and True Talk 800 AM was offered, Jeff jumped at the chance. “I could finally use my experience in broadcasting in a positive way, and be a real servant.” Jeff has been the person who creates the commercials and some of the long-form programs you’ve heard on KPDQ since 1994. “As host of the Mid-Day Show, I’m thrilled to bring you shows that I hope will be an encouragement to you.”
His wife Molly works in local government as a City Manager, daughter Jessica and grandsons Hunter & Conner live in Nevada, daughter Amy works at Salem Hospital, son Ryan works in construction and daughter Katie is still a student, contemplating an acting career.
“My family is very important to me, and I’m just so blessed to have each of them in my life.”
Catch Jeff on the Mid-Day Show, weekdays from 10 AM to 2 PM on 93.9 FM KPDQ.
